Pigtronix is the rising star of a second generation of American boutique pedal makers that are redefining the stompbox for today’s musicians. Striving to push the dialog of musical effects forward, Pigtronix recognizes the value and relevance of classic vintage sounds as we focus on taking tone a step further. Based in Long Island, NY; Pigtronix is one of the fastest growing companies in the MI industry, with self contained design, manufacturing and distribution all under one roof. Our consistent growth is evident in the ever increasing number of Pigtronix products in the rigs of session musicians, touring professionals such as Aerosmith, Snarky Puppy, Anthrax, Slayer and weekend warriors around the world.
Like the musicians who use them, each Pigtronix pedal has a unique personality. A number of design accomplishments have led to multiple Guitar Player Editor’s Pick awards as well as endorsements from legendary bands and musicians such as Andy Summers of The Police (Philosopher’s Tone), Los Lobos (Aria), The Mars Volta (PolySaturator), Buddy Miller (Echolution), Bootsy Collins (Envelope Phaser), Tony Levin (Disnortion), Primus (Keymaster), The Roots (Tremvelope) and many more. A consistent emphasis on tonal clarity and touch responsiveness combined with tour grade build quality, limitless versatility and unequaled value make Pigtronix pedals an attractive option for players of all styles.
Pigtronix provides musicians with a high end, USA made effects option that takes their music in new, creative directions. Forward thinking design concepts, attractive artwork and informative packaging are all geared towards the growing market of sophisticated consumers who want to get significant mileage out of their pedal purchase. Pigtronix has a reputation for accessibility and top notch customer service, aiding musicians everyday in their quest for unique sounds and sonic stimulation.
The Philosophers Rock features Pigtronix’s unique optical circuit that provides transparent compression with endless clean sustain. This all analog, state-of-the-art dynamics processor is further augmented by a harmonic germanium distortion that can be added via toggle switch for even more over-the-top tones that will instantly melt faces when engaged. Many top slide guitarists have gravitated towards the Philosopher’s Rock due to its distortion characteristics being remarkably similar to the “tube rectifier sag” of a small amp being mercilessly overloaded.
Although the Philosopher’s Rock has fewer controls than its more knobby siblings, it actually sports a 4 times wider range of compression tones on tap. This allows the Philosopher’s Rock to be used as a more subtle, clean compressor as well as a super squashy sustain machine when maxed out. The Philosopher’s Rock can be used to tame peaks in your signal as well as to create natural acoustic feedback with or without distortion. Super low noise performance allows the Philosopher’s Rock to be effective in front of a dirty amp or combined with high gain distortion and fuzz pedals for crafting your personal wall of sound.
The Treble and Blend functions from the original Philosopher’s Tone have been preset to the “sweet spot” for hassle free operation on stage or in the studio. The Philosopher’s Rock features true bypass switching and runs fine on standard 9-volt (negative tip) power but ships with an 18-volt adapter for superior headroom, clarity and overall output.
